Early this morning I spent about 90 minutes putting Miracle Gro plant food on the shrubs, flowering bushes, and grasses around our country home.  About every 60 to 90 days I repeat this in order maximize their health and growth.  It’s a bit time consuming, and boring, but the results are really gratifying.  In the early morning cool I thought about all the good folks I know who wrestle with the common issues of life in perplexity and  worry because they seldom take time to feed their inner person.  Reading the scripture is not always a rush, but the long term result is amazing.  My Miracle Gro applications are never accompanied by a spurt of plant growth as I stand and watch.  The results, just like with reading the Word, are only appreciated over time.

Where matters of the mind and heart are concerned I always tell folks, “The Word of God will kill what’s killing you!”  It’s so important for each of us to inform our inner man of the character, will, and purpose of God.  In that way we are comforted and energized for the journey, and that Word will challenge the things that threaten and weaken us.  I love the Scotts Lawn Fertilizer commercial; “Feed your lawn; Feed it!”  Good advice for the believing soul.  You need nourishment, real substantive spiritual food, to support your high hopes and good intentions.  So, I’ll tell you what I have to continually tell myself; “Feed your soul and spirit, Roger, Feed it!!“
